Habitat for Humanity ReStore celebrates 10 years

LAWRENCEThe Essex County Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Lawrence is celebrating its 10th year at its 647 Andover St. location. The store, which is open to the public, sells and accepts donations of new or gently used furniture, appliances, cabinets, building materials, and housewares. All proceeds from sales of donated merchandise directly support Habitat's mission of providing affordable housing throughout Essex County.

The ReStore first opened on March 31, 2011 at its original location of 4 Union St. then moved to its current location on Andover Street and held its grand re-opening on Nov. 16, 2013. Since then, it has provided the community with an affordable way to outfit their homes and do construction or DIY projects on a budget by offering discounted prices on all merchandise.

"We have such a unique selection here — not only compared to other thrift shops, but also compared to many of the other area ReStores," said ReStore Director Jim Kapelson. "We have aisles full of doors and windows, a wall of random lumber, full sets of cabinets, a huge selection of lighting. What makes it fun, is you never know what you'll find here from day to day."

To celebrate this milestone, the ReStore will hold a "Cheers to 10 years" anniversary sale on Friday, Nov. 17, and Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Everything in the store (some exclusions apply) will be priced up to 75% off their already discounted prices. All shoppers are welcome!
